Hello Fellow Workers!

Worker's Voice 406 is a publication steeped in a tradition of values, reborn in 2022 to address ways we can defend a good life for all working Montanans.  As Montana grows, the power dynamics moving into the state are fighting to upend the lives that many of us knew growing up.  The Berkley Pit stands as a stark reminder of what happens when workers and communities are pillaged for maximum profits at all costs.  Today, the methods of extracting Montana's best resource -- it's human potential -- have evolved rapidly, leaving us at a stark disadvantage in the workplace.  We hope that you find this blog as a critical resource to not only become educated on how you can envision a more stable life for yourself and your family, but also understand the tactics that these giants of commerce and power use to gain maximum profits at all costs.  We hope to share what we've learned the hard way so that you can fight for the life you deserve.​

In the columns, you will see the name "worker widget" as the author of the columns.  This moniker was born from how companies view workers, especially those of us in Montana that work hard for a living, as an expendable "widget" to which every action is planned,  exploited, and eventually replaced when worn out.  The term is derived from an Amazon engineer who leaked the company policy that "treats the humans in the warehouses as fungible units of pick-and-pack potential".   We believe people are more than fungible units (widgets) of potential. 

 

We are hard working folks out to improve the lives of all Montanans.  Worker widget values a good, hard day's work that leaves you satisfied at the end of the day.  Widget also values a good life and the healthcare and community.  Lastly, widget has devoted a considerable amount of time and energy to try and make the collective bargaining process attainable to the hardest working Montanans that do not have a voice.  We deserve to live a good life in the Last Best Place.  We hope you join us.  From time to time, you may see a guest columnist.  These folks will have their bios published.
